Disk Drives |
Disk Drive:
1.
A disk drive in an input/output
device.
2.
But a CD-ROM
Drive in an input device.
3.
A disk drive is used
to read and write data on a disk.
4.
A disk drive that
rotates the disk may appear to be fairly a simple.
5.
But it is a complex
system of several devices that works together.
6.
The drive rotates a
disk in precise timing.
7.
While, a read/write
head reads and writes data on the disk.
8.
There are two
types of magnetic disks:
i.
Hard Disk (HDD)
ii. Floppy Disk.
9.
Data stored on these
disks is often referred to as softcopy.
10.
Data can be accessed
and easily modified from these disks.
11.
Drivers can be
connected internally (within the computer) and externally (outside the computer
using a box).
12.
A write-head, which
floats just above the spinning disk, encode data on the disk.
13.
Disk drives are sued
to input extremely large amount of data and instructions in few seconds.
14.
Copies of the coded
data and instructions can also be prepared easily on other disks for use in
other system.
15.
Data is transferable
to other devices.
16.
There are three basic types
of disk drives that have been available over the years:
i. IDE
ii.
SCSI
iii. SATA
