Scanners:

A first scanner was
built in 1957 by a team led by Russell A. Kirsch.

The Scanner is an input
device.
3.
Scanner converts
scanned material into electrical pulses.
4.
Scanners essentially
turn hardcopy information into digital information.
5.
It is then stored
into the computer to be displayed on the screen.

The document then,
can be transmitted on the internet.

A scanner is
commonly connected to a computer USB, Parallel or SCSI port.

Optical Character
Recognition (OCR) software translates the scanned documents into
text that can be edited.

Scanners are used to
enter hardcopy information (printouts or photographs) into the computer.

To edit photographs,
graphic software is used. For inserting a picture into a text, first scan the
required picture, copy it and then paste it on the document.

There are four
common types of scanner:
i.
Flatbed Scanner,
ii. Handheld Scanner,
iii. Drum Scanner &
iv. Slide Scanner.
